Disability Consultancy for Creative Change (DC4CC) is a disability-led research project that aims to take vital steps in changing the landscape for D/Deaf and Disabled professionals in the performance sector.

We came together in 2021 commissioned by Arts Council England and joined by a steering group of organisations - Metal Culture, The New Wolsey, Ipswich, Colchester Arts Centre and Cambridge Junction. Our shared aim was to undertake research within our networks into the experiences of disabled artists and audiences accessing venues. The culminating discussions and evidence of phase 1 of the reserach project can be found here.

Following the securing of additional funds from Arts Council England and using learning from our research in Phase 1, 2023 saw us embed a cohort of independent artists in 6 organisations across the South East.

The aim of the DC4CC is to make tangible change to the performing arts landscape in the East for D/deaf and disabled artists and producers, embedding a culture of best practice across the region in relation to disability.

If you are an arts organisation based in the Arts Council England South East region and want to know more or get involved, please reach out using the contact form in the menu above.
